The village of Brienza has a guide today

A Guide dedicated to the Caracciolo Castle and the Rocca di Brienza that can also be downloaded via the web here is the novelty of the 2017 tourist summer in Brienza. The initiative - explains Rocchina Adobbato tourist operator, owner of the historic and charming La Voce del Fiume residence that promoted its construction - allows our guest to enter as a protagonist in the plot of our Dimora, the Caracciolo Castle and the Borgo di Brienza . A still unknown Lucania and waiting to be discovered. The visitor and the tourist who arrive in Brienza, from any direction - writes the author, the journalist Antonio Parente in the introduction - cannot help but be amazed in admiring the medieval fortress that stands on the top with their nose upturned. north-east of the town. Small gray limestone houses frame and defend the two buildings, built one on top of the other: the church and the castle. The spiritual power and the temporal power that precisely because of their position control and dominate the entire urban agglomeration formed from the early Middle Ages. Everything seems to rise majestically and magical on a small hill which at its foot is lapped by the Pergola and Fiumicello streams which make it a natural “moat”…. But the history, even that of a small town, must be remembered and handed down, but how? Today we live in a hurry, where everything is fluid, where everything is passing, everything is ephemeral, where mobile phones (facebook, WhatsApp, e-mail) and televisions are the masters, in a moment where everything happens in "on time real ”, where everything arrives in a hurry where everything is digested in a rush, a booklet of this type“ paper ”,“ old-fashioned ”, may seem outdated, it can be out of tune. But this is not the case. It is photography, it is precisely the tangible charm of paper, it is the written word, even if no longer with a pen and inkpot, but with toner, that landscapes, houses, panoramas, uses and the costumes. In this way, with a sort of historical photo album, the B. & B. "La Voce del Fiume" wants to pay homage to its guests at the end of their stay in Brienza. where everything is fluid, where everything is passing through, everything is ephemeral, where mobile phones (facebook, WhatsApp, e-mail) and televisions are the masters, in a moment where everything happens in "real time", where everything arrives from race where everything is digested in a hurry, a booklet of this type "paper", "old-fashioned", may seem outdated, can be out of tune. The preface is a page of childhood memories of a child (Rocchina Adobbato) that is intertwined with the grandeur of the castle. My house - writes Adobbato - was on the edge of the town, near the now abandoned railway station. From the window of my bedroom you could see in the distance the ancient village of the town with its houses clinging to each other crowned by the castle. Leaning out of that window, my dad put his hand on my head and smiled in a low voice: there my fortress, here my Rocchina…. The thing that fascinated me most was the muffled silence broken only by the running water. My (daughter) princess seemed to hear "The Voice of the River" whispering sweet and melodious words to her. Today, with a lot of effort and a lot of work, those ruins have been born to a new life. They recovered their timeless romantic atmosphere wrapped in those dreams that I lived with open eyes. Sometimes dreams come true. So, one day, a prince, the last heir of the Caracciolos, the ancient owners of the castle and the village, honored my house with His presence. I was happy to see the amazement of her memories in her eyes. They were reborn as He had seen them as a child. He revealed to me and my little princess some secrets of the castle and told us many stories of its inhabitants. Then, while visiting the cave, he revealed that in that place he glimpsed the secret passage that the princess, the one who had lived in the castle, used to secretly reach the man she was in love with.
