A journey to discover the flavors of Basilicata, to taste the best of the Lucanian tradition through the streets of taste enriched by the routes of nature and history, art and culture.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The package we propose includes an interesting itinerary through history, nature, culture, taste and …… for those who want to experience the thrill of the Tibetan bridges and also a little adventure and adrenaline.

We will cover:

  • the paths of nature to discover beech woods, rivers and centuries-old oaks that have become national monuments;
  • the streets of taste to savor the "poor dishes" of the past, the typical products of the Lucanian basket and the renowned wines of the Vulture;
  • roads rich in history, art and culture to discover medieval villages where time seems to have stopped (Brienza) or still inhabited such as Sasso di Castalda, a mountain village renowned for its panoramic views over the valley for the Tibetan bridges , the beech woods and the courses of water.

The itinerary will start from the charming historic residence "La Voce del fiume", on the slopes of the Caracciolo castle, to continue throughout the historic center of Brienza, a semi-abandoned village up to the imposing and evocative Caracciolo Castle . This will be followed by a visit to the Francesco Mario Pagano bibliographic museum and to the Convent of the Frati Minori Osservanti dating back to 1571, whose cloister has an important cycle of frescoes by Leonardo Giampietro from 1741 from the Michelangiolesca school.

This will be followed by a visit to Sasso di Castalda where you can admire a truly suggestive mountain village with its panoramic views of the valley and the Tibetan bridges . Thrill-seekers can go as far as the two Tibetan bridges suspended in the void of which the largest is the Ponte alla Luna , the most evocative of Italy, with a span of 300 meters suspended in the void at a height of 120 meters which allows you to cross the Fosso Arenazzo from above and reach the ruin of the castle that dominates the town from above.For those who do not want to live the experience but just enjoy the view, you can continue the path that from the historic center, through various panoramic terraces, leads to the highest panoramic terrace, or to the arrival station of the Ponte alla luna , following with the look at the crossing of the two bridges.
The journey will continue after the lunch break, towards Costara a few km from the town, to experience a regenerating stop in the woods made even more fascinating in this period by the bright colors of spring in bloom and appreciate the silence interrupted only by the sounds of nature. Here, in addition to long walks among the luxuriant trees in this period, it will be possible to admire spectacular beech trees and among these the beech of San Michele, one of the father trees of Basilicata , protected by a regional law, dedicated to the strongest archangel in fighting evil. . Under its mighty foliage, a bench will invite you to stop and simply carve out a few minutes of relaxation and enjoy the silence, smells, colors and sounds of nature.Continuing the path of the forest you can breathe deeply the oxygen-rich air at this height, until you reach a "panoramic point" on a steep side of the mountain. Here an area devoid of beech trees will offer the visitor a beautiful panoramic view of the green valley. From this point, through the slip road of the Frassati path, you can return to the town or by choosing other paths that run along the San Michele stream, between mills and bridges , you can reach the ski slopes (1709 meters) dominated by the characteristic Costaro Refuge, in perfect mountain style.
The three-day itinerary will end with the wine route . We will stop in one of the most prestigious and renowned wineries in Basilicata where the owner - Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti - will first accompany us to visit the caves where the wines are kept, and then to taste them through a food and wine journey enriched by his compelling and passionate storytelling.
